About this tool

Convert a Webpage to an Editable Word Document

Paste a URL and get back a DOCX you can actually edit — headings as headings, lists as lists, tables as tables, and the images placed where they were on the page. Article mode runs Mozilla's Readability first, so navigation, advertising and sidebars are gone before the document is built.

Pages that assemble themselves in the browser are handled by a headless Chromium pass, so a single-page app converts as well as a static article does. Where a page needs a session, cookies and basic authentication can be supplied under Advanced.

Nothing is installed and no account is created — it runs in whatever browser you already have, free, with a fair-use ceiling of up to 20 conversions every 15 minutes. The fetched page and the Word document are both deleted from our servers within the hour.

  • Readability extraction removes nav, ads and sidebars before converting
  • Headings, lists, tables and inline images survive into Word
  • Image alt text carried across as captions
  • Headless-browser fallback for JavaScript-rendered pages
  • Cookies and basic auth for pages behind a login
Questions

Frequently asked questions

Will the Word document keep the page's tables?

Yes. Tables are converted as real Word tables rather than as pasted text, so you can sort, edit and reformat them once the document is open.

What happens to a page that needs JavaScript to render?

The converter falls back to a headless Chromium pass that waits for the page to finish building itself, then extracts from the rendered result. Single-page apps convert the same way static pages do.

Can I convert a page that is behind a login?

Sometimes. Advanced accepts cookies or basic-auth credentials that are sent with the request, which is enough for many intranet and paywalled pages. Anything relying on an interactive sign-in flow will not work.

Is the output editable, or is it an image of the page?

Fully editable. The DOCX contains real text and real tables, not a screenshot, so it opens for editing in Word, Pages, LibreOffice or Google Docs.
